Consultations
Our mission is for you to feel comfortable with your therapist before proceeding. This is a half-hour free consultation to meet your therapist to determine whether you feel comfortable proceeding with therapy. It is also a time to ask questions about the process or the therapist's services.
Individual Therapy
All are welcome at Turning Point Therapy. All our therapists are experienced and have extensive training in trauma. We practice approaches that reflect principles that are relational, embodied, experiential, and non-pathologising. We welcome and respect diversity and acknowledge the impact of a system that discriminates against those that it sees as less than, unworthy, and un-entitled to succeed. We endeavour to create a safe space where you can reflect, learn and heal. We will listen deeply and help you to slow down to better understand all parts of you on a journey towards wholeness. This kind of tuning in can help you in every type of relationship, including with yourself, family, children, partners, friends, and colleagues.
Couples Therapy
All Couples and relationships are welcome. We have experience in non-traditional relationships such as polyamory and open relationships. Our therapists are trained in a number of approaches including, Relational Life Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Developmental Couples Therapy. We provide an initial session that is longer to give a fuller exploration of both partner's experiences and identify the difficulties that you want to change. We believe that relationship difficulties often stem from patterns that were learned in the past as a means of coping. We will help you identify the negative strategies you have adopted that leave partners disconnected and teach you new skills to create the real connection you desire.
In therapy, we focus on creating a safe environment where you can eventually be vulnerable with one another and support each other's growth and healing.
Therapists and Counsellors Clinical Consultation.
The consultation takes a number of forms which can include, support and encouragement, reflections on client dynamics and struggles, therapists' emotional responses and reactions to clients, and interventions and practice within various approaches. My style is both supportive and challenging.
My experience and training are rooted in experiential and relational approaches such as Gestalt, somatic therapy, psychodynamic, and Internal Family Systems. My practice is focused on trauma and relationships. My couple's work follows the teaching of Relational Life Therapy by Terry Real in particular.
